SSSBCD & PDG Celebrates Maha Shivaratri 2017
We, the Sri Satya Sai Centre of Durham (SSSCD), are grateful to the Pickering Devotional Group (PDG) for kindly inviting us to join them in celebrating Shivaratri together on Friday 24, 2016. Brother Anoop and his wife sister Sharda kindly hosted the celebration. The evening was blissful. Indeed it was the getting together as one big family sharing a divine evening. We all felt the warm welcome.
The whole evening was so well organized which started by a Pooja. Everyone joined in the Abhishek of the Shiv Lingam and the offering of the Bilva leaves to the lord followed by bhajans, discourse, arti and delicious prasad. The evening started by doing the Ganesh Pooja along with Mantra Puspam, Baba Ashtottram, Abhishek with Rudram,Namakam, Chamakam, Sai Rudram, Sai Chamakam and kshama prathna. Listening to the vedic mantras transported us for a short while to morning chanting in Puttarparthi. The whole atmosphere was vibrant, inspirational and peaceful. Unseen, but present, Swami was there to shower His grace on everyone.
Happiness and smile radiated on everyone’s face. Most importantly, the children and parents’ devotion and participation were the highlight of the evening. Truly, the efforts of the veterans are greatly acknowledged for setting great examples for the next generation to come that is sharing of common values of love, peace and unity. Together, as a united family, we can achieve more and there is a lot to be done for the community. We look forward to working together for many future events.
